What does it mean to die daily?

‎Hi fam it's an honour to have you here!

‎This is the Lord's day and He smiles over you and I with blessings of love. A quick disclaimer this is not a physical death, this is a mindset renewal process or house cleaning.

‎Come let's dine together but before that let's give thanks:

‎Dear Lord, thank you for your word, speak to our hearts and minds, let us receive uniquely, soften our hearts to receive, Amen.

‎Let's break bread:

‎John 2:19-22(NLT)

‎19 "Alright," Jesus replied. "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up."

‎20 "What!" they explained. "It has taken forty-six years to build this Temple, and you can rebuild it in three days?"

‎21 But when Jesus said 'this temple," he meant his own body.

‎22 After he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered he had said this, and they believed both the scriptures and what Jesus said.

‎Notes:

‎We the church are the body of Christ, we are his Temple, so when we receive Him we die to ourselves and are made new, that is to be born again.

‎The old you is no more and now you are made new and whole. With your sins forgiven. Now then what about this daily death we always talk about? It is a daily death to our fleshy desires, your spirit is born again but your mind needs to be renewed daily.

‎That's why you find yourself still having bad habits even after receiving Christ, this shows your mind needs to be renewed. Its similar to the process of Jesus and you can see it also in the final victory of Samson.

‎Judges 16:28-30

‎28 Then Samson prayed to the Lord, "Sovereign Lord, remember me again. O God, please strengthen me just one more time. With one blow let me pay back the Philistines for the loss of my two eyes."

‎29 Then Samson put his hands on the two central pillars that held up the temple. Pushing against them with both hands,

‎30 he prayed, "Let me die with the Philistines." And the temple crashed down on the Philistine rulers and all the people. So he killed more people when he died than he had during his entire lifetime.

‎Notes:

‎Samson had an unhealthy attachment to the Philistine women who always got him into trouble. If we bring it back to us, some of us have unhealthy systems of thought that lead us into trouble which we don't realise.

‎Before you say not me, redefine what trouble looks like, because trouble can be a disturbance to your daily environment, it can also be staying stuck in a routine or cycle with no inner progress.

‎This is more of an inner work which when done results in a good outer work.

‎A Philistine in your life can be fear, but it can be hidden as wisdom or self-protection from those around, which limits your movements.

‎You want friends but when one shows up you begin to make a check list to qualify or disqualify them because you are afraid of betrayal or you create distance or boundaries that you use to shut them out or you use as a vehicle to escape.

‎A Philistine in your life can be pride, the need to be independent and be your own boss, this causes you to not be able to ask for help and let's you waste valuable time in a problem which can just be solved over a phone call.

‎We die to these things which have occupied rooms in our hearts and minds, fear, anxiety, pride, unforgiveness, bitterness and more.

‎The cool thing is that when you receive Jesus you become part of His body, He is the Living One, so when we die to these mindsets, He helps us birth new minds or thought processes that enable us to walk like children of the most high. This is not a physical death but a mind renewal. It is an opportunity to say goodbye to family systems and ways of doing things.

‎Lets pray:

‎Father Lord, thank you for your bread, help us to lay down wrong thinking patterns and old habits, give us a mind like Christ, teach us your ways. Amen.

‎If you want to know Jesus and you want to be born again into a new person, say with me:

‎Dear Jesus, come into my heart, I make you my Lord and Saviour, I repent of my sins, I believe you died on the cross to reconcile me back to God, I receive your love and new life, Amen.

‎You are made whole in Him! God loves you!
