Honey in the midst of bees is what today's message feels like to me brothers and sisters. I've come with a honey-comb scroll, a delicious treat from Father's Table. This would take you on a full journey, come let's give thanks.
Dear Father, we thank you for this honey-bread, we see and receive your love, we say holy, holy are you Lord. Let our eyes be opened, fill us with your boldness and let us walk in step with you, Amen.
Let's eat:
Our treat is taken from Luke 4:17-21, but before I dive in let's look a few verses before.
The devil had finished tempting Jesus for the mean time until the next opportunity he gets. Angels come and minister to Jesus. Jesus is filled with the Holy Spirit's power.
Reports about Him spread throughout the region. He teaches in the synagogue and is praised by all. Now He is at His boyhood home, as usual He goes to the synagogue to read the scriptures and is given a delicious scroll. (If you don't know what a scroll is, take it as an assignment ☺).
Now let's read together with Him.
Luke 4:17-21(NLT)
17 The scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where this was written:
18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free,
19 and that the time of the Lord's favour has come."
20 He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant, and sat down. All eyes on the synagogue looked at him intently.
21 Then he began to speak to them. "The Scripture you've just heard has been fulfilled this very day!"
Amen.
Message:
This is for you and I, we have been anointed to freely proclaim Our Lord Jesus in any and every space.
•To bring Good news to the poor. Who are the poor? Those who do not know the richness of His Grace.
•To proclaim captives released. What are forms of captivity in our modern day? The addictions, the bad cycles passed from family to family, the wrong teachings of culture and society.
•To proclaim sight to the blind. What type of blindness are we talking about? The inability to see who you are, where your life is headed, your vision and talents. The inability to see the Lord God and have true dependency on His strength and power.
•To declare freedom to the oppressed. What are some of the things that press you or others down, like a strong weight or hold? It can be opinions of those close or the audience, it can be the fear you have about life, or genuine mental abuse you feel.
•To proclaim that it's the Lord's time. This means to let the world know it is Father's turn, it's His time. No more games and loses. His mighty hand, teachings and love for His people will be seen and received unimpeded.
Note:
When rejection comes, especially through the people who should have your back, trusted friends, family or mentor. He gives you the power to do what He did.
Luke 4:30(NLT)
30 but he passed right through the crowd and went on his way.
Amen.
We too will pass through the heavy emotions, their actions and opinions which sometimes want to push us over the cliff or off balance and be on our way.
Let's pray:
Father we bless you for the word, let it sink deep and bear fruits, we love you, receive and cherish each word, Amen.
Do you want to know a special person, whose words can uplift your soul and melt the pain, His Name is Jesus and He wants to be your person, if yes, say with me:
Dear Jesus, be my person, come into my heart, I make you my Lord and Saviour, I repent of my sins, I believe you died on the cross to reconcile me back to God, I receive your love and new life, Amen!
Now Jesus is your valentine today! Enjoy His Love!
