Timely advice, listening, honesty and preparation

Hi! What's up fam! How are doing? It's great to have you here and thanks for tuning in. If you are new, this place is God's house of bread, and he nourishes as daily with His Word.

Father we thank you for a new day, we thank you for waking us up in your love. Thank you for the many surprises you have set in place for us, let this word speak to our heart and let your voice guide us. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Proverbs 24:11-12(NLT)

11 Timely advice is lovely, like golden apples in a silver basket.

12 To one who listens, valid criticism is like a gold earring or other gold jewellery.

Today let's have a chat.

I used to not take advice well, either I listen in fear or defense. Most of the time the advice came in the form of accusations and name calling.

It came like judgement, I didn't feel love or compassion or grace. It felt like some one was tearing at me and filled with painful words.

I applied the past experience to my relationship with God, I always had fear, even now from time to time, I have to fight the voices.

Timely advice is constructive criticism, is like a general in the army seeing the traps on the road to battle or seeing the weak points of an excellent soldier that can harm them.

Everytime you receive counsel you need to weigh it with a logical lense or perspective and less emotions.

Check to see if it's valid and decide what you need or don't need. Look at it as strategy instead of judgement.

God who is your Father says He loves you and His plans for you aren't to hurt you.

Proverbs 3:12(NLT)

12 For the Lord corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights.

Next is always be honest with God, about your mistakes, weakness and the things you keep failing to do, He understands and wants to help you. Plus when you do, your trust and friendship in Him grows.

Proverbs 24:26(NLT)

26 An honest answer is like a kiss of friendship.
