Let's pray:
Father we thank you for the joy you bring, we thank you for breaking away the burden of guilt and shame from our backs, let your word speak to every area and breathe a refreshing flow of love in our hearts today, we receive your love, Amen.
Let's break bread:
Many of you have heard the story of King David but for those who don't know, it's about the journey of a shepherd boy made King.
It speaks to how he was a man after God's own heart. The bible also tells us the mistakes he made, God's mercy and forgiveness as well as the consequences of his actions.
Now during his reign as King, one midday, he spots the wife of Uriah from the roof top of his palace taking a bath.
After investigating her identity and knowing whose wife and daughter she was, he still went on to sleep with her, while her husband was away fighting on the battle field.
Now she is pregnant and informs David, David wants to cover up, he calls her husband home to get him to sleep with his wife but he was a faithful and just man who couldn't rest whiles his comrades where fighting on the battle field.
To cover up the mistake David sent him back to the battle field and gave instructions to have him killed. Uriah is dead and David takes Bathsheba as his wife.
Now the Lord was displeased and sent a prophet to tell David a story, this brings to light his sins. David confesses and is forgiven but the consequences still remained, his child born from the mistake died.
Though he fasted and begged God to spare the child. When he heard of the child's death he goes to the Tabernacle and worships God, all cleaned up with a change of clothes. He believed one day, he would meet his child. He goes to comfort his wife Bathsheba.
2 Samuel 12:24-25(NLT)
24 Then David comforted Bathsheba, his wife, and slept with her. She became pregnant and gave birth to a son, and David named him Solomon. The Lord loved the child
25 and sent word through Nathan the prophet that they should name him Jedidiah (which means "beloved of the Lord"), as the Lord had commanded.
Today I want you to know on this beautiful Christmas Day, no matter your errors or mistakes through Jesus Christ there is still a second chance with God, you might say you've failed many times but I can assure you, He loves you and still has His arms open to you.
If you want to receive Him say with me:
Dear Jesus, come into my heart, I make you my Lord and Saviour, I repent of my sins, I believe you died on the cross to reconcile me back to God, I receive your love and new live, Amen.
Jesus was born to the earth to save you and I.
Prayer: Father we receive your word, we love you and we are thankful for the gift of Your Son, Amen.
Merry Christmas! He loves you!
