Names of Nations

Hi fam, today is another day the Lord has blessed us with, and we would be discovering something special. Let's pay close attention and don't forget to shower praise of love to our Heavenly Father.

Father thank you for today's bread, speak to us and let your words remain in us and bear fruit to Your Glory, Amen.

Today I've been seated in the book of 1 Chronicles chapter 1-4. I discovered something interesting. The names of people became names of nations. Yes, you would see founders of clans, towns, occupations, cities and nations. You would also see territory or land named after them.

There are two points, I want us to pay attention to:

1.Name of lands or territories:

In 1 Chronicles chapter 1, you see descendants of Adam to Noah and among the sons of Noah you find a man named Ham, whose son is called Canaan. The name Canaan should ring a bell, do you remember the promised land was called Canaan.

A land flowing with milk and honey. The land has a name on it. So when Israel conquered the land, the land had their name on it, so now it's the land of Israel.

But before that, God had already said I am giving you this land, this means the deeds to the land had already been changed by King of Kings Order, all they had to do was possess it.

When David conquered Jerusalem which was once occupied by the Jebusites (read 2 Samuel 5:6-16), it became the City of David, it became his territory, he occupied it, built on it and expanded his territory, the place is also referred to as the City of Zion.

When God gives you a territory it has your name on it, with all the legal rights and don't be swayed otherwise. Put your name on it and rule, have dominion, it can be a career, a business, a new book, a new recipe, a new project, a land you want to buy, an industry you want to become a power house in, take it!

Put your name on it, build on it, just like David and the people of Israel, don't be passive don't give space for the enemies to come back, don't entertain squatters.

When you hear thoughts like, I can't win, who would read my book, who would buy my product, I am too young, I am old and don't have energy, take a big pause and sack (forceful dismissal) those squatters out of your heard, serve them an eviction notice!!

2.Name of nations:

Many tribes, clans, kingdoms, had the names of people. Just like the name Israel, this is a name given by God to Jacob.

God changes Jacob's name to Israel, Jacob means "holder of the heel", before his birth he wrestled with his brother Esau in the womb and when he was born he was holding the heel of his brother's leg as he came out as the second twin. (read Genesis 25:19-26).

In Genesis 32:22-32 he wrestles with God and looses plus he does the same thing again from his birth.

Genesis 32:26-30(NLT)

26 Then the man said, "Let me go, for the dawn is breaking! But Jacob said, " I will not let you go unless you bless me."

27 "What is your name?" the man asked. He replied, "Jacob”.

28 " Your name will no longer be Jacob," the man told him. "From now on you will be called Israel, because you have fought with God and with men and have won."

29 "Please tell me your name", Jacob said " Why do you want to know my name?" the man replied. Then he blessed Jacob there.

30 Jacob named the place Peniel (which means "face of God"), for he said, " I have seen God face to face yet my life has been spared."

Note: This is evidence of Grace of our Lord Jesus.

A new name stands for new beginnings, this name became a nation from generation to generation a legacy was born.

Let's pray:

Father we thank you and we submit to you, we lay down who we know we are and ask that you show us who you've made us to be, tell us the name you call us by and let it flow from generation to generation, we love you and honour you, Amen.

Jesus is the physical manifestation of God, He is the One Jacob wrestled with and lost to, but had a complete transformation.

He is the only one with a name above all names, to good to know, he is the only way to have fellowship with the father.

Not by works, but by His grace and He walked on this earth and died for our sins, for the wages of sin is death. That's why you see dead dreams, dead hearts, no love, anguish and no peace.

He is the One who brings to life, who you are and gives you power and peace to go through the storms of life, never alone but with Him.
