Welcome fam!
I'm excited today because, I'm starting to implement a new mindset, you'll see me becoming more personal and vulnerable, plus we would be having lots of fun.
Last night I slept with a unique word that is, "I have the Power and Wisdom of God because I am united in Christ.
Let's pray:
Dear Father, we bless you, we thank you for our daily bread, let this table you've set before us completely satisfy our hearts to day and sustain us for the journey ahead, Amen.
I have a beautiful fun assignment, I want us to do together will share after the message.
Today we would be studying Jephthah a judge in Israel and the wonderful characteristics he developed as He walked with the Lord.
1. He was different from his parents:
Judges 11:1(NLT)
1Now Jephthah of Gilead was a great warrior. He was the son of Gilead but his mother was a prostitute.
Notes:
He didn't become like His parents, but forged a new path for himself of becoming a great warrior. In modern times it is to be an Elite Soldier, this would require, discipline, skill, influence, hard work and respect of his colleagues.
2. He had influence, leadership skills and tenacity during hard times:
Judges 11:3(NLT)
3 So Jephthah fled from his brothers and lived in the land of Tob. Soon he had a band of worthless rebels following him.
Notes:
In the midst of disapproval from His own people because of his birth, when pushed out of his father's land, he was still able to flourish with what he had and the environment he found himself in.
Honestly it's not easy to get noisy children or people together, how much more a group of people known to oppose authority and break the rules. To have such people follow you, will require an excellent spirit and wisdom.
3. He knew the Lord as the source of his victory:
Judges 11:9(NLT)
9 Jephthah said to the elders, "Let me get this straight. If I come with you and if the Lord gives me victory over the Ammonites, will you really make me ruler over all the people?"
Notes:
This happens after his people pushed him out and trouble came knocking at their door and they remembered what he could do. Here he let's us see his reverence for God.
4. He knew the Lord us the source of all authority:
Judges 11:11(NLT)
11 So Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him their ruler and commander of the army. At Mizpah, in the presence of the Lord, Jephthah repeated what he said to the elders.
Note:
He seeks approval from God.
5. He has history with God and remembers the victories the Lord has won for His people and reminds his enemies (the storms you face):
Judges 11:23(NLT)
23 So you see, it was the Lord, the God of Israel, who took away the land from the Amorites and gave it to Israel! Why, then should we give it back to you?
Note: He kept evidence of the goodness of the Lord and held on to it.
6. He knew the Lord as his Judge:
Judges 11:27(NLT)
27 Therefore, I have not sinned against you. Rather, you have wronged me by attacking me. Let the Lord who is judge, decide today which of us is right- Israel or Ammon.”
7. The Spirit of the Lord rested on Him and gave him victory:
Judges 11:29a(NLT)
At that time the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah
Judges 11:32(NLT)
So Jephthah led his army against the Ammonites, and the Lord gave him victory.
8. He kept his vows:
If you read verse 29-40 you see an interesting story which reminds me of how Christ came to die for us. It also gives a clear narration. It's a bit lengthy, so I urge you to read it.
Now our assignment:
Write 20 good things about yourself which are unique to you and different from your predecessors.
Feel free and don't look for perfection.
This is to help you see the wonderful person you are becoming.
Let's pray:
Dear Lord, we receive your word, help us to be more like you, give us your confidence, approval, assurance in these next steps and new walk. We receive your love, Amen.
The best person who can reveal to you who you are and who you can become is Jesus and He wants to have a relationship with you, if yes, say with me:
Dear Jesus, come into my heart, I make you my Lord and Savior, I repent of my sins, I believe you died on the reconcile me back to God, I receive your love and new life, Amen.
Have fun!
