Welcome Fam!
Let's honour the Lord, Glory to His Holy Name, if the Lord has been good to you praise Him, shout and dance anyhow today. Lord I thank you for healing, for your warmth and your people.
I thank you for the warm bread you've given us. Wrap your arms around us and speak to us, You are, Our Mother and Father, One who loves His own and would never turn His back. Love you Lord, Amen.
To be alive equals to His goodness.
Judges 11:1-3(NLT)
1 Now Jephthah of Gilead was a great warrior. He was the son of Gilead, but his mother was a prostitute.
2 Gilead's wife also had several sons, and when these half brothers grew up, they chased Jephthah off the Land. "You will not get any of our father's inheritance" they said, "for you are the son of a prostitute. "
3 So Jephthah fled from his brothers and lived in the land of Tob. Soon he had a band of worthless rebels following him.
The text describes a Man named Jephthah who becomes a Judge of Israel, this is during a time of Judges and no kings yet. The text shows his strength and weak areas of his life. It also points to His vulnerability and the rejection.
Now war has come knocking on the door of Israel, the Ammonites have begun their attack and the elders of Gilead send for him.
He makes a statement which let's you realise he knows God and knows who gave him the skill and who is the source of victory, knowing who has the final say.
Judges 11:9-11(NLT)
9 Jephthah said to the elders, "Let me get this straight. If I come with you and if the Lord gives me victory over the Ammonites, will you really make me rule over all the people?"
10 "The Lord is our witness," the elders replied. "We promise to do whatever you say.”
11 So Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him their ruler and commander of the army. At Mizpah, in the presence of the Lord, Jephthah repeated what he said to the elders.
Notes:
I want you to take note of the underlined sentences
-A Great Warrior- You and I, no matter our background the Lord sees and has made us great warriors.
-Clarity- To be able to assess the situation, to have clear perspective, to use the lenses of wisdom, to assess the environment.
-To know the Lord- To be aware of the source of your strength, talent, skill and ability to do works, comes from the Lord.
-To know who determines the victory- To be grateful and a posture of humility, a posture of dependence, and awareness of who the victory belongs to and comes from.
-To make decisions or plans in His presence- Not to be an independent candidate but dependant on Him.
These are beautiful things I want us to pay attention to.
Let's pray:
Father help us to receive your word, teach us to walk in your steps and remember you are our everything, we receive your blessings today, Amen.
If you want to receive Jesus and get to form an intimate bond with Him, say with me:
Dear Jesus, come into my heart, I make you my Lord and Saviour, I repent of my sins, I believe you died on the cross to reconcile me back to God, I receive your love and new life, Amen!
Walk with the Lord and be a Great Warrior!
